hi ppl i have a astra 1.8 sri on a 02 plate it keeps idling (i think thats the word) and occansionally stalling the air flow sensor was mentioned but to be honest the garage that was looking at it seemed a bit .... um... you know what i mean also when doing 50mph in 5th gear there a strange whiring noise but it dosent do it in 4th it also happens between 90-95 it quite loud and u can feel it in the steering any ideas please help take care sha x
your idling and stalling prob will be down to the throttle body get it cleaned out and will be fine again, your air flow meter would not cause that so dont waste money getting it changed. chances r the whiring noise will be a bearing in the gearbox. hope that helps. phil
There's a good chance if you're feeling it in the steering, sounds like a wheel bearing. Depends where it's coming from. My mates sounded like a plane taking off when he got to 50. Strange it matters what gear you're in though, so chances are that guy's right.
its not the throttle body, maybe on a mk2, i work at euro car parts and its going to be either the idle control valve of the air flow meter. more than likely the air flow meter is bolloxed. i sell hundreds of them every week. trust me!!!
