Space for left foot in Polo?
I've been out shopping for a Mk5 Polo (the 2009-2017 one) and have discovered that there really is no space to the left of the clutch to rest your foot when not using it. Or more accurately, there is actually a foot rest there (albeit a small one) which is probably fine for ladies with small feet who can fit their feet through the gap in the first place!
I'm assuming it's not intended that you should rest your foot on the clutch whilst driving.
None of the reviews mention what seems to be a fairly important flaw.
The one I test drove was a 2010 plate. I was wearing normal trainers at the time so nothing huge like work boots.
Was this problem ever rectified in a later year (say, on one of the facelifts?), or should I just accept that this isn't the car for me?
I like everything else about the car so ideally I'd like to buy one.
Does anyone know if the Golf's footwell is substantially more spacious?
The only other car I've ever had this problem with is a Fiat 500 (which is perhaps predictable). I even have a 31 year old Mini f.f.s. and there's plenty of room for my feet in that!
P.S. I'm only 5'11" and size 12 so nothing out of the ordinary - which is why I'm surprised none of the reviews pick it up.
