Car speed and power

Asked by Jun 26, 2017 at 05:59 AM about the 2005 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When my car reaches 60mph it looses power and
won't go any faster along with a check engine light.
This problem happens intermittently. Now last
week on the motorway the car was OK then when I
reached 70mph   the car broke down so an
engineer checked the engine and said it was the
crank shaft sensor, so he replaced it and do a week
later the car is doing the same thing, any ideas?

1 Answer

Is your Honda petrol or diesel? The crank shaft sensor fault will cause it not to start but shouldn't cause power loss on motorway.
