I have an 82' Toyota Starlet KP61. I've been thinking of putting a 4AGE engine (mr2) in it. Should i keep the old engine and upgrade it so it is somewhat stock. Or should i switch to the 4AGE? Trying to keep it within a toyota to toyota thing.
You're opening a bucket of worm if you do that. Unless you're a MASTER fabricator...you should pass on this project.
what mr2 did a 4age come in? i thought those had a 3gte or 3sgte, and a corolla had the 4age?
The 4A-GE (16 and 20 valves came in Corolla/Levins. The 4A-GZE variation of the 4A-GE came in all supercharged MR2 models for something like 86 to 95 I think
The MR2 came with the 3SG motor in various specs. The 4AGE / AGZE came out in the conquest/corolla. the 4AGE motor is Super tough. there are guys out here that use that engine with a properly worked head and turbo to run in the 8s. Google Richard Jordaan's nissan Champ
Conquest??...In america, the Conquest was a mitsubishi built Chrysler product from the mid to late 1980's. Was it also a Toyota product in your country? Just curious?
Logan Meet Conquest .....Conquest Meet Logan, I'm from South Africa. The conquest, or at least the sport version was fitter with the 4AGE motor only. We have a few of the guys using that engine to make in access of 500 horce power at the wheels. one such person running a time or 8.768 on the quarter mile ........ with a car he drives to the track ....fully street legal
In terms of some real power the 16v derivative is the way to go as the 20v angine just can not keep it self together.
do u think a 2gt engine from the old celica GT would be good enough?
the 2GT has potential but not stock as it is .... Its a puppy dog compared to the 2JZ ...... that is the McDaddy of engines. Its the only motor I know of that you can take as is and make HUGE power with, with out having to extensive replace internals etc etc. The only thing the Stock 2JZ suffered from was its tiny intake manifold which was fitted with streetability in mind ..... those however are cheap, you can go and buy a properly sized one from the guys at Titan or Greddy or HKS ...... all of them are good.
would a 2jz fit in a 1998 starlet?? (i want something that'll munch all my mates cars!!!!!
I find it funny that alot of people are saying the 4AGE didn't come in the MR2...even though it did -_-. 85-89 had it.
