VW FOX replacement radio wiring
the car's loom has 5 wires (plus the speakers) two red and white (permanent on) one brown (neutral) and two others, which don't match any other file I can find online, but the sticker on the side of the RCD200 says they're +u and +safe. I've tried running the ignition (red) lead from the Pioneer DEH-4700DAB to any or all of these with no luck. it won't turn off when the key is removed! the RCD 200 turned off fine (and still does when replaced) what am I missing? PLEASE!!
Sorry got that wrong. The wires are can - and can+. That's a computer control, right? Is there an adapter?
Hi martinedwards, I'm not familiar with this but will ask one of my colleagues in the morning who may be able to help.
Have been advised by a friend that I can run a lead to the cigarette lighter socket as this is powered only when ignition is on. Will try it tonight and report back
RESULT!! the centre wire to the ciggie lighter is ignition on only. three screws loosen the gear stick console area enough to get access to the cable. radio now turns off when it's supposed to.
Brilliant, well done Martin! Hopefully this will be helpful for other CarGuru users.
