On my Corsa, a light comes up with what looks like a car with a spanner through it. Not listed in my manual so what is it?

if its the same as my 1.7 cdti youl find its a service light mate which is indicating it needs a service and will need to go in soon

Yep. Is the service light. Generally any amber/orange light that comes on with a spanner symbol is a service light. You can service the car yourself if you wish, but won't be able to turn the light off without the correct electronic tool..

Thanks to all who replied. That's typical of dealers. Service it then don't reset the indicator.

Engine maintenance light. Means there may be a fault on your car. You can find the fault code. Get your car keys and some paper and a pen. If you aint got a good memory. When you get into the car you know the key has 3 clicks? Basically until your after the second click when the diagnostic lights comes on. Press the brake and accelerator pedal, and then turn key to the second click. Keep the pedals depressed and wait for the diagnostic light to begin to flash. It will display four numbers, with a gap of two seconds in between each number. The number of flashes represents each number, in between the 2 second gap. 1 flash = 1 2 flashes = 2 ect. Zero is 10 flashes for exampleP0110 The light will flash 10 times. Have a 2 second gap. Then once. 2 second gap. Once again. Then ten If you have more than one code it will stop for a break, then gives the next code. This also works for the Astra. This works on a Corsa C, and im presuming it'll work on yours, even if it is a Corsa B. However if you don’t have any code stored it will start flashing and keeps on flashing until you release the paddles. What the faults are is below. That's brilliant! Thanks a lot. I only had the car 3 months and the Haynes manual doesn't tell everything so now I'll have a go with this. It was serviced by the dealer before I bought it but I don't trust dealers.

I had same problem with my 2008 Corsa Cdti/ecoflex and i got it sorted. 1. Check your Battery? Is it good and has full charge?....if not charge your battery. My car battery was not good. I topped up the battery liquid and then left it on for charge overnight.(that didnt fix the issue but at least it could have some part to play...you will findout when you read this in full) 2. Glow plugs...when were they changed...i bought my car with 84k on the clock and glow blugs were never changed...all mechanics i had spoken to they said they wont change them unless they realy have to because they can break/snap and can cost 400 to 500 pounds to be removed from the engine....so i bout the car and have been spaying penetrating oil on glow plugs (WD40 and others) for couple of weeks when engie was cold and when when it was hot. That helped me removing them without breaking/snapping the glow plugs... 3. In the meantime i had put diagnostic machine on which show error code which meant (low voltage to the engine) i thought low battery had some part to play here therefore i charged the battery....if possible replace it with a good new fully charged battery. But the mechanic said replace the glow plugs relay/voltage or time control unit.....got it replaced but still the same( i bought the part USED from ebay and thought it might be faulty....but that wasn't the case.) 4. Went back to the mechanic and begged him to change the glow plugs....he said if they break/snap you will have to pay 400 to 500 pound extra cost for getting them removed...i took the chance and said yes. 5. he tried and none of them break...however he found one of them was burnt badly and others were weak too. He replaced them all and hay presto..... No car spanner light...and car runs much smooth....mpg increased. So i suggest chang your glow plugs and charge your battery(or change it) this should fix car spanner limp mode issue if doesn't at least these two thing are sorted and you wont have starting problems in winter... Good luck.
