Fiesta Zetec S starting problems

Asked by Aug 17, 2017 at 01:00 PM about the 2006 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My petrol 2006 mk6 fiesta zetec s has some
starting problems, I got it about 4/5 months ago
and the guy I brought it off didn't say there was any
problems with it, since I've had it it's gotten worse.
The start up is about 50/50 sometimes it starts
normal and I can drive away, then other times it will
either start up and stall instantly and then other
times it will start up and idle normaly but you cant
rev it, nothing happens and if you do press the
throttle or put it in gear and let the clutch out it'll
just rev down and stall but if you stop it'll rev back
up again... do that twice and the 3rd time I can
garentee it'll start up fine. Ive changed the spark
plugs and oil filter I'm thinking it may be something
to do with the air intake, I thought the pump but
surly it wouldn't start up and drive at all? but I don't
really know much about cars, could anyone help ?
There is also no engine light showing

This car has an Electronic Throttle body and electronic Throttle pedal. Some of these cars came out with a problematic throttle body. This could be the problem. Sometimes when driving along EAC will flash up on the cluster while driving and the car will default to a minimum driverbility which is what you are describing.
