new battery and a new motor put in for my drivers window now roof does not work would either effect it

Yes, the new battery can affect the car. On all modern BMWs a new battery needs to be 'coded' to the vehicle either by a BMW dealer or by a BMW specialist with the right diagnostic tools. Provided the new battery is the right type for the car once it has been coded to the car I would hope the hood would work. Either way, the first thing that must be done is to have the battery coded to the car... if the hood still doesn't work then one can start looking at other items like hood motors or fuses.
