Clutch

Hi there Duf, no, your clutch pedal should not be three inches from the floor, it should be higher than that. It could be that you have a problem with the clutch hydraulics, most likely the clutch slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder. I'd take the car to a Vauxhall specialist for a full diagnosis. If left without being repaired the pedal may drop all the way to the floor and you won't be able to change gear which will leave you stranded. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

HI I have a Vauxhall astra 1.7 CDTI, when collected from the dealer the clutch pedal was low. I had taken it back and they fitted a new clutch kit. After time the pedal did not always return fully so they fitted a slave and master cylinder. The problem continued. This has now been an on-going issue for 9 months. Recently the car went back to the dealer and they passed onto Vauxhall to which they have checked everything and replaced the clutch kit with original parts. I collected yesterday everything seemed Ok until this morning, I held the clutch down before starting for 10 seconds and it did not return again, the rest of the journey is OK. Do you have any idea what the issue could Be? Regards Steve
