reverse light switch position on a 2003 vw polo 1.2

It should be on the gearbox casing, but I can't remember if it's on the nearside or at the front. Pretty sure it will have two wires going into a plastic plug on the gearbox casing. If fitting a new switch doesn't cure the problem it may be a fault with the wiring to the switch which I believe is quite a common problem.
