Question type: Maintenance & repair

Hi all
Can someone please help me out. I own an
automatic 2003 VW Polo 1.4, bby engine. My
engine doenst start, when i turn on the key it
shows the car with key light flashing. I unplugged
the battery for 5 minutes , to reset the system, then
it started and I was able to get home. After I
parked and switched the engine off, I tried to put it
on again just to check, but the same error still
remains, which means that the key is not being
detected and I may have to reprogram it. Is there a
way around this? Is it something I can do by
myself? Is it possible to reprogram the key without
having to go to dealership and spend lots of
