lumpy running at low revs

Asked by Jun 02, 2017 at 10:32 AM about the 2008 Vauxhall Vectra 1.9TD Elite Estate

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Starts easy but when cold is very slow to pull away until revs build up.  Main problem is when you are doing 50 -60 mp and revs are less than 1600 revs it's lumpy and you feel a lot of vibration.  If you increase revs to 2000 it stops.  I have replaced er valve. Small improvement.  Can you suggest anything Ian

I'm afraid this could be any number of problems Ian. Is the er valve you replaced the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) as these are known to be a bit problematic on these engines? It could be a MAF sensor or possibly some blockage in the exhaust (catalyst/or DPF if fitted) but think this unlikely as it will rev higher than 1600 and is fine at 2000rpm. I'm wondering if it's some sort of timing issue, but if I were you I'd get the fault codes read to see if that will point you in the right direction. Good luck.
