what would you say is a good family car used under £3000 1.0 low on tax and reliable?

i saw the octavia but i really dont know where to start

A Skoda Octavia would be a good choice, they're well built and tend to be reliable and put up with high mileages. £3000 would buy you a 2007/2008 1.9-litre diesel model which will be good on fuel and would cost £135 a year to tax. Another good choice would be a Ford Focus which are also pretty cheap to run.
