ATT. Tom Demyan................Thanks for the quick response, you requested more information I have a Brera 2.2 jts on a 2006 plate I have changed the alternator, air filter, battery, rear callipers and a 12 month MOT on it.......the car starts up straight away, when you accelerate the power seems to be halved. It runs great and changes gears perfectly, when you accelerate it feels like something is blocked stopping the power loss I have had the car for 8 years and the energy management has always been on I have had five different garage one being Alfa themselves but only lasted two days, it's just starting to cost a lot of money. I have been in Hospital for a year but the car did 2000 miles from a mate and he never had any issues, if you can't help do you know a independent dealer around the Manchester/Lancasire area.
Hi Guru5NB, it's Bob here, not Tom, but I saw your question and thought I would add my input. There is a known issue with the 2.2- litre engine in your car that the timing chain can stretch... and common signs of this are the engine warning light being on and a loss of power. Your problems could of course be related to something else, but I would certainly have the timing chain issue looked at to see if it affects your car. As for specialists in the Manchester area there's MVC in Sale (http://www.alfaromeoexpert.com/) or Peak Alfa in the Peak District (http://www.peakalfa.co.uk/) who both seem to have good reviews on the Alfa Romeo Forums. Good luck with your Brera, hope you can get it fixed without it costing an arm and a leg. Let us know how you get on.
