Codes C0222 & C0226 following brake works and ABS light permanently on

Asked by Sep 27, 2017 at 06:11 PM about the 2007 Isuzu Rodeo 2.5TD Denver

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a wee problem with the ABS. Recently had new disks pads and calipers
fitted to both front hubs, ever since then the ABS light has come on after a
few minutes driving.
The fault codes are C0222 & C0226 which both relate to LHS and RHS
speed sensors. Mechanic says nowt to do with him which is opposite to what
I'm saying, as far as I am concerned the fault wasn't there before the work
was done so that makes it his problem to sort.
Can brake repairs like mine cause the fault with the ABS system ?

Normally you wouldn't expect replacement discs, pads and callipers to affect the operation of the ABS as the ABS sensors tend to be fitted within the car's hubs which shouldn't need to be disturbed when fitting the brake components. I'm guessing that it's possible that either the wiring going to the ABS sensors has been disturbed, or that fitting the new brakes may have been enough to disturb ABS sensors that were on their way out anyway. I'm not familiar with the system that Isuzu uses but quite often the sensors or the rings from which they take their signals can go rusty over time eventually causing a problem. Has the mechanic had a look at it to see if he's disturbed any wiring? Is he a guy you've used before and have previously trusted and been happy with his work? It could just be an unfortunate coincidence. Maybe you could come to a compromise to get it fixed... he provided the labour and you pay for any new parts involved? Either way, let us know how you get on and what solved the problem.

Sometimes the ABS rotors are mounted on the inside of the brake Discs. Just check that these new frond discs have these toothed rotors, and that the front ABS sensors are in the correct position.
