sometimes the car will lack major power when driving. most of the time it
drives fine but then I will turn it off then on again and try and accelerate foot
down and it takes 30 seconds just to reach 30mph so i carnt pull off fast or
anything. the only way i have over come this is to restart the engine a few
times but im not sure was is causing this lack of power.

Hi Nero3906, sorry to hear you're having problems with your BMW 320i, and I'm also sorry that I won't be able to give you a definitive answer on what's wrong as these are complex engines and it could be several things. I would get it into a BMW specialist for a proper diagnostic check. The most likely cause of the fault is that a coil has failed, but it could be that the plugs need replacing, or that you have faulty injector. There are also a myriad of different sensors on these cars and you could have a fault with something like an oxygen sensor, a nitrogen sensor, a low fuel pressure sensor or a camshaft position sensor. Good luck in getting it sorted out and let us know what the fault was. Bob
