The 2005 Toyota Corolla is part of a generation of design that first arrived in 2002 and was facelifted for 2004. It was intended by its maker to offer a more premium experience to compete with the Mk4 Volkswagen Golf. That was successful to a certain extent, but the Toyota Corolla will still appeal most to those seeking a dependable and cheap-to-run car rather than one that delivers any sort of luxury feel. It’s not all that exciting to drive, either – a Ford Focus is much better in that respect. Having said that, if you are after a reliable car, they don’t get much more dependable.

The 2005 Volkswagen Golf is the Mk5 version and is well regarded for being better to drive than the Mk4 car whilst steel feeling well built. However, in all likelihood a 2005 Toyota Corolla that’s been looked after well will probably be a better bet when it comes to reliability.
