The supermini sector has always been one of the most competitive, fiercely fought parts of the car market, simply due to the sheer popularity of cars of this type. And with rival upon rival queueing up to outshine the rest and catch the eye of buyers, the poor old Mitsubishi Colt got a bit lost in all the noise. It wasn’t a bad car per se, but it just wasn’t awfully good in any particular area, and by the time 2012 had rolled around, it felt rather dated by virtue of the fact that it still sat on underpinnings that had been introduced a decade earlier. It’ll feel even more dated now, but you can pick one up on the used market for peanuts.

Is the 2012 Mitsubishi Colt better than the 2012 Toyota Yaris?

Virtually the only things that the 2012 Mitsubishi Colt has going for it are that you can pick one up on the used market for next to nothing and, provided it’s been looked after, it should be fairly reliable. However, a Toyota Yaris of the same vintage can also be had for a tempting price, and will probably be even more reliable. The Yaris’ relative popularity as a new car also means it’ll be a lot easier to find one on the used market than the Colt, too.
