The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was a member of the fourth-generation version of the German firm's small executive car, otherwise known as the W205, which was first introduced in 2014 and wasn’t replaced until 2021. The 2019 C-Class was available in several forms, including the four-door saloon, five-door estate, two-door cope and two-door convertible, meaning that there’s plenty of choice within the range. There was also lots of choice when it came to engines and trim levels. Depending on the bodystyle, the C-Class competed with rivals including the Audi A4 and A5, and the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series.

Strengths:

Very comfortable on the road
High-quality interior
Wide choice of engines, trims and specifications

Weaknesses:

Not as fun to drive as a BMW 3 Series
Mainstream saloons from VW and Mazda will cost less
AMG models costly to run

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class better than the 2019 BMW 3 Series?

If you’re after comfort and refinement above all else, especially on long motorway journeys, then the Mercedes will be very appealing thanks to a cosseting ride and excellent suppression of exterior noises. You’ll also be a fan of its posh-feeling cabin and practicality. If it’s driving thrills you’re after, however, then you’ll probably be better off with one of the rivals from Audi or BMW.
