The Kia EV2 in numbers

Kia’s smallest EV posts some impressive figures

Small car, big numbers. The Kia EV2 is the brand’s most compact, accessible electric car but it over-indexes in the areas that matter: usability, practicality and style. Let's take a look at some of the figures that add up to a compact SUV that’s more than the sum of its parts.

Relax, with 885mm of rear legroom

How do you get 885mm of rear legroom into a car that’s just over four metres long? It’s all about smart packaging. Built on Kia’s dedicated electric platform, the EV2 is short enough to make parking a breeze yet its generous wheelbase and SUV proportions free up lots of interior space.

29 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%

Yep, 29 minutes is all it takes to charge the Kia EV2’s standard 42.2kWh battery from 10% to 80% capacity using a DC rapid charger. Enough time for a coffee stop and ‘comfort break’ and you can be back or the road again. In fact, your EV2 could be ready to go before you are. Versions with the long-range 61.0kWh battery take just a minute longer, boosting remaining range up to 225 miles in the process. And public charging is easy with the EV2 because you can take advantage of Kia Charge. It offers access to more than 40,000 UK charging points from various providers, with effortless payment via a single charge card or app.

The EV2 is also one of the few compact electric cars to offer bidirectional charging. It means you can use Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging to power electrical appliances directly from the car, which could transform your road trips or camping adventures.

Roomy inside, with plenty of passenger and cargo space

362 litres of load space

Just how big is 362 litres of load space? Well, the average carry-on flight case capacity is about 40 litres, so… you do the maths. Incredibly, that’s the maximum boot capacity (to the load cover) of the EV2 – a compact SUV that’s about the same length as the average supermini.

An additional 15-litre ‘frunk’ under the bonnet is another example of the everyday usability built into the EV2: it’s an ideal storage space for charging cables, a laptop or (another) pair of shoes.

281 miles of range

Fully charged, the long-range battery in the Kia EV2 offers up to 281 miles of range – enough to drive from London to the Lake District. So even though it’s Kia’s most accessible electric car yet, the EV2 gives you the class-leading range the brand has become famous for.

Maximum range with the standard battery is 190 miles, which could be all you need to cover your commute for a fortnight. For extra peace of mind, the EV2 is available with Kia’s EV Route Planner, which gives you real-time charging recommendations, energy consumption info and route guidance, all displayed on the centre screen.

19-inch alloy wheels

Bold design elements define the Kia EV2, including the availability of 19-inch alloy wheels that are unusually large for the sector.

Every alloy wheel option has a strong, geometric look, as well as flush surfacing that reduces aerodynamic drag, for maximum battery range. EV2 Air trim includes 16-inch alloys that have a dark finish. Step up to GT-Line and GT-Line S and you get 19-inch wheels that make a strong statement and have a premium bi-colour finish.

100,000 miles of warranty cover

Can you put a number on peace of mind? How about 7 years and 100,000 miles? That’s the class-leading warranty cover that comes with every new Kia car, including the EV2. As with all of Kia’s electric cars, the EV2 also comes with a separate 8-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty. If the battery pack drops below 70% capacity within that period, Kia will repair or replace it.

Both warranties transfer to future owners, helping to protect resale value.

[11] Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) can assist the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region. While your turn signal is on, it can alert you visually, by sound and/or by haptic feedback when equipped. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over approximately 12 mph. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCW may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCW. BCW is a supplemental system, and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is the driver's responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.
