FAQs
The 2008 Suzuki Swift represented the first generation version of the Japanese firm’s supermini contender. Well, that’s not strictly true: the name had existed before for use in various different international markets, but this was the first iteration of the car that would be known globally as the Swift. Offered in the UK between 2005 and 2009, the Swift was a car that was more than the sum of its parts. It was flawed: many of the cabin plastics felt cheap, it wasn’t hugely practical, the ride was decidedly firm and it was rather noisy. However, it was still an enormously charming and likeable little car. It had cute styling, a decent amount of kit, it was affordable, and it was huge fun to fling around corners. It delivered a young-at-heart feel similar to that of the contemporary MINI, but for a fraction of the price.## Strengths: Looks good
Represents good value for money
Great fun to fling around
## Weaknesses: Firm ride and refinement isn’t great
Some brittle interior plastics
Not much room in the back or the boot
## Is the 2008 Suzuki Swift better than the 2008 MINI Hatch? No, it isn’t, but it does a very passable impression. The two cars are actually very similar in character due to their cutesy design, compact dimensions, scruff-of-the-neck handling and rev-happy performance, and they also had similar flaws such as limited practicality and a firm ride. The MINI was the better car overall due to superior cabin quality and better refinement, but the thing was, it was way more expensive. The Swift was a considerably cheaper alternative that offered almost as much charm.

(3 reviews)Very stable car! Easy to drive and is actually pretty powerful, would defo recommend as a 1st time car
Good little runner, very nippy. The car itself could have been vacuumed and cleaned inside, would have paid a bit more if it was. One or two small things need to be looked at, as it stands Im happy with it. Hope it gets me to Ireland and back, wait and see.
Car is good to drive and for petrol .. I like this car
