Overview

Image not available

The 2017 Nissan Qashqai was the third best-selling car in the UK, after the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus – so Nissan certainly got a few things right with its second generation of family crossover (which is what the 2017 models falls into). That popularity is down to the fact that it’s an easy car to live with, delivering a smooth, refined driving experience, and impressive fuel economy. The high driving position and spacious cabin win it friends, too. Just be sure to check that any example you consider has had the rectification work from various recalls issued when the car was newer.

Strengths:

Roomy cabin and boot
Excellent fuel economy
Plenty of keenly priced used examples

Weaknesses:

Some reliability issues
Jiggly ride on 19-inch alloys
No seven-seat version

Is the 2017 Nissan Qashqai better than the 2017 Seat Ateca?

The 2017 Nissan Qashqai majors on delivering practicality and liveability, but the Ateca adds a more enjoyable driving experience to the mix. Resale values are rather high for the Ateca, though – a measure of the esteem in which it’s held – so it might be easier to find a Qashqai at a keener price.
