Overview
The 2019 Nissan Qashqai provides reasonable interior space, the slightly raised driving position that those in the market for a crossover SUV often seek and impressive levels of standard equipment. It also offers a range of economical engines. By the time the 2019 model year arrived, however, this generation of Qashqai had been on sale for a good five years, and fresher-faced rivals, such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and Mazda CX-5 delivered a better overall package. That said, the Qashqai was updated during its time on sale, and the sheer popularity of the model means that there are plenty of good used examples to choose from.
Strengths:
Spacious interior
Fuel-efficient engines
Lots of examples to choose from
Weaknesses:
Can suffer reliability niggles
Firm ride on bigger wheels
Some rivals offer seven seats
Is the 2019 Nissan Qashqai better than the 2019 Mazda CX-5?
Perhaps the biggest thing in the 2019 Qashqai’s favour is its popularity, which means finding a used example with a specification to suit your taste is relatively easy. However, in most other respects, the Mazda CX-5 is the objectively superior car.
