Used 2018 Toyota Hi-Lux for sale near West Midlands

The latest version of the Japanese firm’s rugged, no-nonsense pickup truck was released in 2015, so if you were to buy a 2018 Toyota HiLux on the used car market, you’d essentially be getting pretty much the same vehicle as you would if you were to buy brand new. Sure, small changes have been made to the vehicle’s looks, engines and equipment levels over its long life, but the basic nuts and bolts are the same. It isn’t the most civilised of the pickup trucks, but it is one of the most rugged, and has a well-earned reputation for reliability. That, plus a warranty that could potentially last up to 10 years, should provide peace-of-mind by the bucketload.

Strengths:

Cabin feels posh compared with many rivals
Great off-road
Huge towing capability

Weaknesses:

Not as civilised to drive as some
High-end models look expensive
Entry-level 2.4-litre engine feels lethargic

Is the 2018 Toyota HiLux better than the 2018 Ford Ranger?

The Ranger is the UK’s bestselling truck, and it’s easy to see why, with its smart looks, plentiful creature comforts and surprisingly lively driving experience. The HiLux is a rather different proposition: it’s more agricultural on the road, but considerably better off it, and the Toyota is generally more rugged. So, which suits you depends on what your priority is.
