The 2019 Citroen C3 represents the third-generation model of the French firm’s entrant into the ultra-competitive supermini market, where it does battle with a vast number of very talented - not to mention, very popular - rivals. Happily, the C3 does have a few key weapons in its arsenal that it can call upon to attract buyers. Firstly, there’s its unconventional and appealingly quirky styling, which is hugely customisable, and there’s also the fact that all this style comes at a very affordable price. The engines are peppy and the ride is very comfortable, too. It’s a little bit cramped inside and the interior feels a bit cheap in places, but there’s a lot to like.

It also delivers a comfortable and relaxing drive, but it manages to combine that with considerably more accomplished handling. There’s also the Clio’s massive boot to consider. It is true, though, that the Citroen will cost you a fair bit less.
