Overview

The 2021 Nissan Navara makes an excellent pickup, even if it’s not quite as good to drive as the Ford Ranger, and not quite as plush as the Volkswagen Amarok, but it’s a durable all-rounder and it delivers punchy performance and impressively fuel-efficient engines. When this generation was first launched in 2014, there was some criticism of its infotainment systems and concern about the durability of its coil spring suspension, but both of these issues were rectified in the 2019 facelift. A five-year, 100,000-mile warranty when new was generous, offering buyers peace of mind, too.
Strengths:
Large load bed and generous payload
More car-like to drive than most pickups
Punchy and fuel-efficient diesel engine
Weaknesses:
Volkswagen Amarok has a larger load bed still
The SsangYong Musso has a longer warranty
Not as wieldy as a conventional SUV
Is the 2021 Nissan Navara better than the 2021 Ford Ranger?
The 2021 Ford Ranger is better to drive than the 2021 Nissan Navara, especially the 2.2-litre twin-turbodiesel versions fitted with Ford’s smooth 10-speed automatic. The Nissan counters this with impressive fuel economy – 40mpg is entirely possible.
