London, UK, 09 January 2019 - CarGurus, the online automotive marketplace, has launched its inaugural national TV advertising campaign in the UK.
The advert will run through quarter one of 2019 with the aim of building awareness and expanding CarGurus' consumer audience in the UK while targeting those in the market for a used car.

It's the latest signal of intent from the US-based company, created by TripAdvisor co-founder Langley Steinert, who recently announced it had completed its acquisition of used car motoring website PistonHeads in the UK from Haymarket Media Group, a specialist international media company.

The advert was inspired by research that delved into which elements of the CarGurus platform were most valuable to consumers when looking to buy a used car.

Titled 'The Most Important Questions', the advert allows CarGurus to emphasise its unique market proposition, helping shoppers find a great deal from a reputable dealer.

In addition, it highlights the array of questions the CarGurus platform can help answer from the more playful 'is there room for triplets' to queries about mileage and serious accident history.

The commercial will air nationally across the UK through quarter one in 2019.

"What's exciting is that we are already the fastest growing automotive marketplace in the UK* and we've only been active in digital marketing and PR since our launch," said Sarah Welch, Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing at CarGurus. "Our decision to move into TV advertising is simply the next step in our growing commitment to the UK market. We are confident the TV campaign will build awareness among UK car buyers and are excited to begin the next chapter of sharing our brand value proposition with UK consumers."

To create the advertising campaign, CarGurus partnered with advertising agency ABF Pictures. Media buying will be run by All Response Media.

How CarGurus Works
CarGurus helps car shoppers search local car listings and quickly find great deals from top-rated dealers. Every day, the company analyses millions of data points on hundreds of thousands of UK car listings to calculate each car's Instant Market Value (IMV) or fair retail price. This data is used in combination with dealership ratings from other shoppers to rank and rate available cars results based on the quality of the deal: Great, Good, Fair, High or Overpriced. The site also provides transparency on how long the car has been on the forecourt and if it's had a price drop. Consumers can contact dealers directly.
