How can I turn the power/alarm off when in the car?

Asked by Jul 08, 2017 at 09:24 PM about the 2010 Renault Megane

Question type: General

I sometimes sit in my Renault Megane (2010) during a meal break. I don't
have the engine running, but the side lights and dashboard lights stay on,
draining the battery. I have tried locking the car, which turns everything off,
but then the alarm goes off and I have to unlock the car to stop it.
How can I be in the car with all the power off without setting off the alarm? I
don't want to have the engine running for over an hour just to keep my
battery from draining.

Hi there, I understand the problem you're having, but I'm not familiar enough with the specific model to know the best way around this. Have you checked in the owner's handbook? I'm assuming the alarm goes off because the interior sensors are detecting you moving inside the car... sometimes there is a way of disabling these sensors so you could leave a dog in the car without the alarm being triggered - it should describe how to do this in the handbook. Otherwise I'd suggest you ask the question in one of the Renault on- line forums where owners familar with the car might be able to help.
