ford focus 1.6 2010 Electrical problem

Asked by Nov 26, 2017 at 12:59 PM about the 2010 Ford Focus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1.6 petrol Ford Focus Titanium 2010 just developed a few electrical faults during a long drive. The "bonnet Open" warning came up on the dash board. I then noticed the temperature senor had failed. Then the next day tthe air conditioning and the rear wiper that were working the previous night had also failed.  I have checked the obvious fuses i.e F10, F12 to F15, and F27 (red 10amp) and checked for 12v on output side of F1 (40amp). Perhaps its a relay? I don't  have a fuse / wiring schedule other than the basic one on the lid. If anyone has one that may help narrow it down or any other advise appreciated.

It could be a problem with the PCM (body control module)

Thanks Mark I'll have a look into this. First of all I'll need to find its location, if its under the dashboard or the bonnet.

Problem solved - caused by women. My wifes friend had some how previously damaged the fabric cover under the front passenger dash so that it sometimes still falls down. My wife must then either with a foot or bag caught a clip that snaps hold a wiring terminal strip that's located there. Explains why more faults appeared as the terminal gradually loosened. The photo shows two connection terminals, if you pull the black u shape handle towards you the terminal will come apart. So there's no sexist remarks I'll shoulder some of the blame for not fixing the cover properly - just needs a couple of large washers.
