Problems trying to jump start

Asked by Nov 15, 2017 at 05:10 PM about the 2004 Smart Roadster

Question type: Maintenance & repair

Tried to jumpstart car. Lots of yellow sparks. Then multiple electrical malfunctions. Car had got very damp in garage. Has the battery shorted and is it permanently damaged? Is anything else likely damaged?

You may get a quick spark on connecting leads but continuously means leads are the wrong way. Turn side lights on first to prevent spiking the ECU.
