Overview
The first-generation Jaguar XF was one of the first Jaguars that didn’t lean heavily on the marque's heritage – no, this was a thoroughly modern-looking car. The 2012 Jaguar XF is a facelift of that first generation of XFs and, while it’s very forward-looking inside and out, it still manages to ooze the charm and ambience that sets Jaguars apart from their largely German premium rivals. XFs are also very generously equipped, and the diesel engines in particular deliver smooth, punchy and economical performance, especially the powerful twin-turbo 271bhp 3.0-litre diesel. The handling, meanwhile, definitely suits driver enthusiasts.

Is the 2012 Jaguar XF better than the 2012 BMW 5 Series?
Both the 2012 Jaguar XF and the BMW 5 Series are undoubtedly the most engaging of all the larger executive cars to drive, but while the BMW feels more solidly built, the Jaguar XF is somehow just that bit more cosy – there’s an austerity to the BMW that is absent in the XF.

The car was a total dog, scratched all down one side. Overspray over the rear wing . Seats were very worn and very dirty. The aluminium panel by the gear selector was worn through. The car looked like it had done much more than 72000 miles.
