Overview

2018 was the very year that the second-generation of the Nissan Leaf was released in Europe. With the way to mainstream electric cars having been paved by the first-generation Leaf, a path later followed by a number of other models, the Mk2 Leaf picked up where its predecessor left off, and by the end of 2018, it was the world’s third best-selling electric car. It had far more conventional looks than its predecessor, as well as more power and a longer driving range. Aside from that, though, it wasn’t actually a huge leap forward in any particular area.

Strengths:

Relatively affordable compared with other EVs
Cheap to run
Plenty of space inside

Weaknesses:

Range not particularly great
Not compatible with CCS charging
Poor driving position

Is the 2018 Nissan Leaf better than the 2018 Renault Zoe?

Well, the Nissan is certainly bigger and roomier than the Renault, so it’s definitely the more practical car of the pair. And, because the Zoe hasn’t changed a whole lot since it was first released in 2013, it now feels very old, so the Nissan is the fresher option, too.
