According to CarGurus data, the MG5 is the fastest-selling used car in the UK right now
It is joined in our top 10 by the Audi Q4 E-Tron, Polestar 2 and Tesla Model Y
Every model on this list sells in an average of 30 days or fewer, with half selling in under 28 days
If you want to know which used cars are in high demand, look at how quickly they sell. While some models linger on dealer forecourts for months, the fastest-moving cars are snapped up in less than three weeks.
To find out which models are currently flying out of dealerships, we analysed CarGurus data to track the average "days to turn" (DTT) - the time it takes for a used car to sell. This list highlights the 10 fastest-selling used cars in the UK as of August 2026, comparing the data with the same period from the previous year.
Every car on this list finds a buyer in under 30 days. Electric vehicles dominate the standings, taking nine of the 10 spots. These range from budget-friendly options like the MG5 and MG4 to premium models such as the Tesla Model 3 and Audi Q4 E-Tron. The petrol and plug-in hybrid MG HS is the only non-pure-EV to make the cut.

The MG5 tops our list as the UK's fastest-selling used car, finding buyers in an average of just 20.6 days. That is a substantial shift from last year, when it took more than 45 days to sell. As one of the few affordable electric estate cars on the market, it occupies a niche with very little direct competition.
For buyers wanting low running costs and a practical boot, the MG5 is a sensible choice. Used prices are competitive, and the estate body style offers more versatility than similarly priced electric hatchbacks. With few alternatives around, it's perhaps not surprising that the MG5 is in high demand. MG5 Review
The EQA is Mercedes-Benz’s smallest electric SUV, and it has climbed to second place on our list. It now takes an average of 25 days to sell, which is nine days quicker than this time last year.
Its appeal is straightforward. The EQA offers a smart, well-finished cabin and a comfortable ride, making the transition to electric power feel familiar. For used buyers who want a premium badge and a raised driving position without paying top-tier prices, it is a sensible option. Mercedes-Benz EQA Review
The Polestar 2 is finding buyers faster than it did last year, with its average time to sell dropping to 25.4 days. As a premium electric fastback, it competes directly with the Tesla Model 3 but offers a different take on modern design.
It stands out with minimalist Scandinavian styling and a high-quality interior. Unlike the saloon-only Model 3, the Polestar is a hatchback, which makes loading its 400-litre boot much easier. As used prices have become more affordable, it has become an increasingly attractive alternative to more common rivals. Polestar Polestar 2 Review
The Tesla Model 3 remains a powerhouse on the used market. Despite high supply it takes an average of just 26.7 days to turn, which is three days quicker than a year ago.
Its strengths are well documented: impressive real-world range, access to Tesla's reliable Supercharger network, and regular over-the-air software updates. A major update in 2024 brought improved refinement and better cabin materials, making newer used examples even more desirable. Tesla Model 3 Review
The Volkswagen ID.4 is a new entry in our top 10, averaging 27 days to sell. That is a modest improvement of 2.3 days compared with the previous year, showing steady growth in demand for this practical family SUV.
The ID.4 offers a spacious cabin and a 543-litre boot, making it well-suited to family life. It drives in a predictable, comfortable manner, and as used prices have fallen, it has become a highly sensible option for buyers looking to switch to an electric family car. Volkswagen ID.4 Review
The Tesla Model Y is the second Tesla to make our top 10, taking an average of 27.2 days to sell. Like the Model 3, it sells quickly despite being available in large numbers on the used market.
It is one of the most practical electric SUVs on sale, featuring a vast boot, generous passenger space, and extra storage under the bonnet. Strong battery range and access to Tesla's charging network ensure it remains highly sought after by family buyers. Tesla Model Y Review
The MG HS is the only car on this list that isn't a pure electric vehicle, offered instead with petrol or plug-in hybrid power. It takes an average of 28 days to sell, which is a slight increase of 1.7 days compared with last year, but it remains a fast mover.
Value is the main attraction here. The HS undercuts most rival family SUVs on price while offering plenty of standard equipment and a decent 507-litre boot. The plug-in hybrid version is popular for its low running costs, while MG's transferable seven-year warranty adds peace of mind for used buyers. MG HS Review
The Skoda Enyaq has seen its average time to sell fall by six days, down to 28.3 days. It is a spacious and practical electric SUV that shares its mechanical parts with the Volkswagen ID.4 but offers its own distinct character.
Inside, you get a massive 585-litre boot and generous rear legroom. Skoda’s clever interior touches and straightforward dashboard layout make it easy to live with, while a range of battery sizes allows buyers to choose the balance of price and range that suits them best. Skoda Enyaq Review
The MG4 is another new entry, taking an average of 28.5 days to sell—nearly five days quicker than last year. It has quickly become one of the go-to choices for buyers looking for an affordable, modern electric hatchback.
The MG4 was designed from the start as an electric car, which allows for a spacious cabin despite its compact footprint. It is good to drive, well-equipped as standard, and offers a reasonably practical 363-litre boot, making it an excellent budget-friendly entry into EV ownership. MG MG4 Review
The Audi Q4 E-Tron rounds out our top 10, averaging 29.3 days to sell. This represents the biggest year-on-year improvement on our list, with its average time on the market dropping by more than 22 days compared with August 2025.
This shift is largely driven by used prices becoming more realistic. For buyers who want a premium badge, a high-quality interior, and a decent electric driving range, the Q4 E-Tron is now a much more competitive proposition than it was when new. Audi Q4 E-Tron Review
What is the fastest-selling used car in the UK right now?
According to CarGurus data, the MG5 is currently the fastest-selling used car in the UK, with an average time to sell of 20.6 days — more than 25 days quicker than it was in August 2025.
Which used cars have seen the biggest improvement in sale times?
The Audi Q4 E-Tron has improved the most, with its average days to turn falling by 22.2 days year-on-year. The MG5 (-25.2 days) has also seen a dramatic improvement, though it was already a fast seller in 2025. The Mercedes-Benz EQA (-9.1 days) and Skoda Enyaq (-6 days) also made notable gains.
Are electric cars selling faster on the used market?
Nine of the 10 fastest-selling used cars in our data are pure electric vehicles, ranging from the affordable MG5 and MG4 to premium options like the Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 E-Tron. That points to strong and broad demand for used EVs across a wide range of price points.
Is a low days-to-turn figure a good sign for sellers?
Generally, yes. A low average days-to-turn suggests strong demand relative to supply for that model, which can support asking prices and shorten the time a car spends listed for sale.
Why does the MG HS sell slightly slower than it did a year ago?
The MG HS is the only car on this list whose average time to sell has increased year-on-year, up by 1.7 days. Even so, with well over 1,000 examples listed in August 2026, it remains one of the highest-volume and fastest-turning cars in the country — the slight slowdown reflects a maturing market rather than any meaningful drop in demand.
Methodology
As a used car marketplace, CarGurus UK sits on a treasure-trove of data. Where possible, we try to use this data to help car buyers and sellers be more informed, whether it's through clear price analysis and deal ratings, the number of days a vehicle has been for sale, or any price drops that have been applied. For this article, our team of data analysts looked at the average number of days it took each model to sell (days to turn, or DTT) in August 2026, with the 10 fastest selling models then making this list.
To guard against anomalies in stock, our analysts only looked at models with a meaningful number of examples listed for sale on CarGurus.co.uk over the period.
