Very well equipped as standard	Early examples are not as good to drive as later cars

Quick Summary

The Aston Martin DB11 (2016-2023) represents a bold new era for the British marque, featuring an all-new platform and turbocharged engine—a significant departure from Aston Martin's traditional naturally aspirated V12 heritage. Initially, the DB11 faced criticism regarding cabin luxury, ride quality, and the loss of the classic V12 soundtrack. However, Aston Martin addressed these concerns through iterative improvements, culminating in the 2018 DB11 AMR, which delivers enhanced performance, superior ride quality, and a more compelling driving experience. The AMR is now the sole V12 variant offered, combining 630bhp with refined dynamics that make it a supremely capable grand tourer.

Available with both V12 and V8 engines, the DB11 offers exceptional performance and handling. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 503bhp and reaches 62mph in 3.9 seconds, whilst the V12 AMR achieves the same in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 208mph. Both variants feature an eight-speed automatic gearbox and come well-equipped with heated seats, parking cameras, climate control, and premium audio systems. However, running costs are substantial, with insurance, road tax, and fuel consumption all commanding premium budgets. The DB11 remains best suited to buyers prioritising performance, style, and grand touring capability over practicality.

Best for: Buyers seeking a high-performance grand tourer combining sharp handling with long-distance comfort, those valuing British engineering and distinctive styling, and enthusiasts with generous budgets for running costs.

Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, those prioritising maximum luxury and refinement over performance, or drivers requiring practical rear seating and substantial boot space.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the DB11 if: You seek a high-performance grand tourer combining sharp handling with long-distance comfort, value British engineering and distinctive styling, and have a generous budget for running costs.

Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum luxury and refinement over performance, require practical rear seating and substantial boot space, or need lower running costs.

Competitive Position: The Aston Martin DB11 stands as a compelling alternative to rivals like the Bentley Continental GT, offering sharper handling and a more engaging driving experience, though the Bentley provides greater luxury and refinement. Whilst the DB11's rear seats offer limited passenger accommodation, they provide useful additional storage. The DB11's distinctive styling, exceptional performance, and well-equipped cabin make it a standout choice for discerning buyers prioritising driving dynamics and British heritage. After initial refinements, particularly with the 2018 AMR variant, the DB11 has proven itself as one of Aston Martin's finest models and a genuinely accomplished grand tourer.
