Audi Q2 (2016-2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| The interior is a cut above | Cramped rear seats and modest boot space |
| Most engines are fuel efficient | Firmer ride of S Line models |
| Quirky styling makes a change from Audi's usual conservatism | It's an expensive used buy |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q2 (2016-2025) is a stylishly designed compact SUV that has become one of Audi's best-selling models. Its bold, creased exterior design sets it apart from Audi's typically conservative approach, featuring a prominent grille and distinctive flanks. The Q2 successfully taps into the current compact crossover and SUV market, appealing to buyers seeking premium badge appeal with contemporary styling. Whilst not the roomiest in its class, it offers decent rear seats and reasonable boot space for everyday family use and urban driving.
The Q2 delivers a premium interior with excellent material quality, intuitive MMI controls, and user-friendly infotainment featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Most petrol engines achieve 44-48mpg, whilst the efficient TDI diesel returns up to 50mpg. The car is competent to drive with light steering, acceptable ride comfort, and adequate grip, though it's not designed for dynamic thrills. Running costs are reasonable, with competitive insurance and strong residual values offsetting the higher purchase price. The hot SQ2 variant offers 295bhp for those seeking more excitement, though at greater running cost.
Best for: Premium-conscious buyers seeking stylish, efficient compact SUVs with excellent interiors, those prioritising badge appeal and ease of use, and families requiring practical urban transport.
Not ideal for: Buyers needing maximum rear legroom or boot space, those seeking dynamic driving engagement, or those on tight budgets seeking mainstream alternatives.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi Q2 | 4/5 | 4.0/5 | 34.8% | 4.3/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the Q2 if: You value premium interiors and badge appeal, seek stylish and efficient compact SUV transport, or prioritise user-friendly controls and infotainment systems.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum rear legroom and boot space, seek dynamic driving engagement, or prefer mainstream alternatives at lower cost.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q2 is a strong contender in the compact SUV market, offering a premium interior and distinctive styling that sets it apart from rivals. Whilst the Volkswagen T-Roc provides excellent value and the MINI Countryman scores higher with users, the Q2's superior interior quality and intuitive controls justify its premium positioning. The Mercedes-Benz GLA offers comparable prestige but at higher cost. For buyers prioritising interior excellence and Audi's reputation for quality, the Q2 remains a compelling choice, though those seeking maximum practicality or value should consider the T-Roc or MINI alternatives.

(4 reviews)Car was great, very surprised at how nippy the 30tfsi is as I drive a 2.0 litre diesel Q3 at present. Sline model has a lot of good features on it including the virtual dash and was surprisingly roomy for a smaller car. The car was competitively priced. I have a Quattro and would prefer a Q2 quattro, this is only reason I was put off as the one I test drove was a front wheel drive.
The Q2 is to expensive for what you get compared to other small cars in the same category. You are definitely paying for the badge
Lovely compact car, drive beautifully and smoothly. All u need is there ,SatNav,speed control, parking sensors, cruise control,-nothing too much,- nice interior, good size boot space.,maybe only issue is the space at the back seat, as its compact is a bit tight.otherwise its a lovely car.
upmarket interior and easy sat nav. Good reliability and economy
