Car was great, very surprised at how nippy the 30tfsi is as I drive a 2.0 litre diesel Q3 at present. Sline model has a lot of good features on it including the virtual dash and was surprisingly roomy for a smaller car. The car was competitively priced. I have a Quattro and would prefer a Q2 quattro, this is only reason I was put off as the one I test drove was a front wheel drive.

The Q2 is to expensive for what you get compared to other small cars in the same category. You are definitely paying for the badge

Lovely compact car, drive beautifully and smoothly. All u need is there ,SatNav,speed control, parking sensors, cruise control,-nothing too much,- nice interior, good size boot space.,maybe only issue is the space at the back seat, as its compact is a bit tight.otherwise its a lovely car.

Audi Q2 (2016-2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| The interior is a cut above | Cramped rear seats and modest boot space |
| Most engines are fuel efficient | Firmer ride of S Line models |
| Quirky styling makes a change from Audi's usual conservatism | It's an expensive used buy |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q2 (2016-2025) is a stylishly designed entry-level premium SUV that has become one of Audi's best-selling models. Its distinctive, bold exterior sets it apart from Audi's typically conservative design language, featuring prominent creases, a large grille, and striking proportions. The cabin exemplifies Audi's renowned quality, with excellent material finishes, intuitive MMI controls, and user-friendly infotainment featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Whilst rear legroom and boot space are modest compared to some rivals, the Q2 remains practical for urban driving and school runs.
The Q2 offers a competent driving experience with light steering, acceptable ride comfort, and adequate grip through corners, though it's not designed for dynamic thrills. Engine options include efficient petrol and diesel units, with the 35 TFSI manual and 35 TDI quattro delivering impressive fuel economy of 44-50mpg. The hot SQ2 variant provides 295bhp for those seeking more excitement. Strong residual values offset the premium purchase price, making it an attractive proposition in the used market. Production ends in 2025 with no direct replacement planned.
Best for: Buyers seeking a premium-badged compact SUV with an upmarket interior, those prioritising fuel efficiency and low running costs, and drivers wanting distinctive styling without sacrificing practicality.
Not ideal for: Families needing maximum rear legroom or boot space, budget-conscious buyers seeking mainstream alternatives, or those expecting engaging driving dynamics.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi Q2 | 4/5 | 4.0/5 | 45.3% | 4.4/5 |
| Mercedes-Benz GLA | 4/5 | 4.2/5 | 39.7% | 4.4/5 |
| Volkswagen T-Roc | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 41.6% | 4.4/5 |
| MINI Countryman | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 36.9% | 4.5/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Q2 if: You value premium interior quality, seek a distinctive compact SUV with efficient engines, or want strong residual values and low running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You need maximum rear legroom and boot space, prefer mainstream badge appeal, or prioritise engaging driving dynamics over comfort and style.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q2 holds its own in the competitive compact premium SUV segment, offering superior interior quality and intuitive controls that rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volkswagen T-Roc. Whilst user ratings favour the T-Roc and MINI Countryman, the Q2's higher proportion of good and great deals (45.3%) makes it excellent value. The Q2's premium positioning and distinctive styling appeal to buyers willing to pay more for badge prestige and cabin refinement. However, those prioritising space and practicality may find the T-Roc or Countryman more suitable alternatives.
