Audi Q2 (2016-2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| The interior is a cut above | Cramped rear seats and modest boot space |
| Most engines are fuel efficient | Firmer ride of S Line models |
| Quirky styling makes a change from Audi's usual conservatism | It's an expensive used buy |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q2 (2016-2025) is Audi's most compact SUV, and successfully taps into the compact crossover market with its premium badge appeal. While its rear seats can be tight and boot space is only average compared to more practical rivals like the BMW X1, it offers sufficient practicality for daily school runs and city driving.
Inside, the Q2 boasts a characteristically high-quality Audi interior with excellent materials and user-friendly MMI dial-controlled infotainment. Driving dynamics are competent and enjoyable, featuring light steering and good composure, though it's not bought for dynamic excellence. Running costs are competitive for its class, with efficient petrol and diesel engines available, and strong demand ensures good residual values. However, it represents an expensive used purchase, and the high-performance SQ2 variant incurs significantly higher running costs.
Best for: Buyers seeking a premium-badged compact SUV with distinctive styling, those who appreciate a high-quality, user-friendly interior, and drivers looking for a competent and enjoyable car for urban life and school runs.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising maximum rear passenger space or boot flexibility (e.g., sliding seats), those on a strict budget as it's an expensive used purchase, or buyers looking for the most dynamic driving experience in the segment (unless opting for the SQ2).

The Verdict
You should buy the Audi Q2 if: You want a premium, stylish, and well-built compact SUV with a fantastic interior and good residual values. It's ideal for urban driving and those who value a user-friendly infotainment system.
Consider alternatives if: You need maximum rear passenger and boot space, a more budget-friendly option, or a car with a softer ride (avoid S Line).
Competitive Position: The Audi Q2 (2016-2025) is a strong contender in the premium compact SUV market, standing out with its distinctive styling and a class-leading interior that exudes quality. While it may not offer the outright practicality or budget-friendliness of some rivals, its strong brand appeal, competent driving dynamics, and excellent residual values make it a desirable choice. It positions itself as a premium, stylish option for those who value build quality and design over maximum space or the lowest purchase price.

4.5 Overall rating
(8 reviews)Car was great, very surprised at how nippy the 30tfsi is as I drive a 2.0 litre diesel Q3 at present. Sline model has a lot of good features on it including the virtual dash and was surprisingly roomy for a smaller car. The car was competitively priced. I have a Quattro and would prefer a Q2 quattro, this is only reason I was put off as the one I test drove was a front wheel drive.
Lovely compact car, drive beautifully and smoothly. All u need is there ,SatNav,speed control, parking sensors, cruise control,-nothing too much,- nice interior, good size boot space.,maybe only issue is the space at the back seat, as its compact is a bit tight.otherwise its a lovely car.
upmarket interior and easy sat nav. Good reliability and economy
Good on fuel nippy around town great size for the wife to drive . She highly recommend it .
We think this car was exactly what we wanted at this point in time
