Bentley Bentayga (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Incredibly sumptuous interior | Hugely expensive |
| Smooth driving manners | High running costs |
| Capable off-road | Not as spacious in the back as you might expect |
Quick Summary
The Bentley Bentayga (2015-present) is an unmistakably luxurious SUV, blending the brand's iconic front-end design with a commanding presence. Its interior is exceptionally lavish, featuring extensive leather, fine wood or aluminium trim, and sophisticated switchgear, though some Audi-sourced parts detract slightly. While offering 4, 5, or 7-seat configurations, rear passenger and boot space (382-484 litres) can be surprisingly limited for a vehicle of its size, especially compared to rivals. Technology is abundant, with a 10.9-inch touchscreen, advanced infotainment, and premium audio options.
On the road, the Bentayga's air suspension delivers a smooth, wafting ride over larger bumps, though smaller imperfections can intrude. It handles corners with surprising competence thanks to four-wheel drive and direct steering, but its considerable weight means it's not as agile as a Porsche Cayenne. Running costs are significantly high across all engine options, with real-world fuel economy often below 20mpg for petrol models and around 20-25mpg for the hybrid once its battery is depleted. Despite its expense, it delivers unparalleled opulence and combines Bentley's luxury with SUV practicality.
Best for: Drivers seeking unparalleled luxury and opulence in an SUV, those who appreciate a commanding presence, effortless performance, and exceptional comfort, and buyers not concerned with high running costs.
Not ideal for: Buyers on a budget, those prioritising maximum rear passenger and boot space, or drivers seeking the most agile handling in an SUV.

The Verdict
You should buy the Bentayga if: You're seeking unparalleled luxury and opulence in an SUV, appreciate a commanding presence, effortless performance, and exceptional comfort, and are not concerned with high running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You're on a budget, prioritise maximum rear passenger and boot space, or desire the most agile handling in an SUV.
Competitive Position: The Bentley Bentayga stands as a pinnacle of luxury SUVs, offering an exquisitely crafted interior, powerful engines, and a supremely comfortable ride. While its high price and running costs are significant, and practicality can be surprisingly limited in some areas, it excels in delivering unmatched opulence and a prestigious brand experience. It faces competition from more practical rivals like the Range Rover or more dynamically focused options like the Aston Martin DBX, but few can match its blend of outright luxury and presence.

4.5 Overall rating
(7 reviews)A truly beautiful vehicle. With quality exposed in all areas.
Brilliant car I’ve had 2 Bentleys before this Bentayga diesel and this is so comfy quiet powerful roomy so far can find no fault with it at all ,, and the bonus is the wife loves it .
There is no finer luxury SUV on the market, in my opinion.
a very large car if using on minor roads due to its size
The V6 Hybrid is good value in terms of tax advantage if put through a company. Petrol consumption is better than the V8. Whilst Range Rovers are attractive but there are doubts about reliability. The Bentley Bentayga is beautifully assembled and less likely to create problems. Also its a Bentley!
