Customers say
The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is well-regarded for its spacious interior and economical performance, making it an excellent option for larger families. Owners particularly appreciate features like the media system and the reverse parking camera, which enhance driving convenience. However, some drivers have noted that the boot space is smaller than expected, which can be limiting when traveling with a lot of luggage. Overall, it's praised for comfort and practical design, but the limited boot space is a common concern.

Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Brilliant cabin, with space for seven and lots of clever features | Not as fun to drive as a Ford S-Max |
| Soft suspension delivers a comfortable ride | Steering is overly light and remote |
| Good looking for an MPV | Some owners report electrical faults |
Quick Summary
The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) is an exceptionally practical seven-seater MPV that excels at delivering space and versatility for families. The second-generation model, which received a facelift in 2016 and was renamed the SpaceTourer in 2018, features an intelligently designed interior with a panoramic windscreen, super-skinny pillars for excellent visibility, and a clever three-seat middle row that slides, reclines, and folds individually. The third-row seats stow neatly in the boot floor, and even with all seven seats deployed, there's still usable boot space. A perfectly flat floor when all rear seats are folded creates van-like versatility without the need to remove seats.
Comfort and quietness are prioritised over handling, with a soft suspension that absorbs road imperfections admirably and excellent noise suppression making long journeys pleasant. The range of engines is smooth and flexible, with the popular 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel achieving 50-60mpg on longer runs and the 1.2-litre PureTech petrol offering around 50mpg. Running costs are reasonable, with fixed-price servicing available and insurance groups comparable to rivals. Even base Touch trim models come well equipped with climate control, cruise control, and Bluetooth connectivity. The facelift models from 2016 onwards offer additional equipment enhancements.
Best for: Families needing maximum space and practicality, those prioritising comfort and ride quality, and buyers seeking a stylish alternative to traditional MPVs.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging handling or spirited performance, those who value light and responsive steering, or buyers concerned about potential electrical issues.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citroën Grand C4 Picasso | 4/5 | 4.9/5 | 38.4% | 4.3/5 |
| Ford S-Max | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 33.2% | 4.4/5 |

| Seat Alhambra | 5/5 | 5.0/5 | 22.5% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Grand C4 Picasso if: You need maximum space and practicality for a growing family, prioritise comfort and ride quality, or seek a stylish and intelligently designed MPV alternative.
Consider alternatives if: You value engaging handling and responsive steering, desire spirited performance, or are concerned about potential electrical issues.
Competitive Position: The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) is an excellent choice in the seven-seater MPV market, offering outstanding practicality, clever design, and exceptional comfort at a competitive price point. Whilst the Ford S-Max provides more engaging driving dynamics and the Seat Alhambra offers premium build quality, the Grand C4 Picasso delivers superior interior versatility and a more relaxed driving experience. The Renault Grand Scenic is a worthy alternative, though the Citroën's cabin design and space utilisation are superior. For families prioritising practicality and comfort over performance, the Grand C4 Picasso represents outstanding value and remains one of the most intelligently designed MPVs available on the used market.
