Fiat Doblo (2010-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of cabin space | Disappointing safety rating from Euro NCAP |
| Sliding rear doors make getting in and out easy | Not very well equipped |
| Affordable used car prices | The ride is bouncy |
Quick Summary
The Fiat Doblo (2010-2020) is a small van with windows—a spacious, practical people carrier with a compact footprint and an affordable price tag. The second-generation model arrived in 2010 with an upright, boxy body that reflects its commercial vehicle origins. Although no longer available as a new car, plenty of examples exist on the used market. It's an ideal choice if practicality matters more than style, offering exceptional interior space and versatility for families and those needing maximum carrying capacity.
The Doblo seats five as standard, with an optional Family Pack providing a third row. Five-seater models offer an enormous boot that surpasses rivals like the Citroën Berlingo Multispace and Peugeot Partner Tepee. Headroom is plentiful throughout, and sliding rear doors ease access. Engine options include a 94bhp 1.4-litre petrol and two diesels: a 103bhp 1.6-litre and 133bhp 2.0-litre Multijet. A 2015 facelift improved aesthetics and added sound insulation. Diesel variants offer reasonable performance with sensible running costs, typically achieving 40-45mpg in real-world driving. Insurance groups are exceptionally low, and CO2 emissions keep tax bills affordable. The Doblo prioritises function over form, delivering excellent value for money.
Best for: Practical buyers seeking maximum interior space, families needing a versatile people carrier, and those prioritising affordability and low running costs.
Not ideal for: Buyers wanting premium equipment levels, those seeking a refined driving experience, or those concerned about Euro NCAP safety ratings.

The Verdict
You should buy the Doblo if: You're seeking maximum interior space, need a versatile people carrier for family use, or prioritise affordability and low running costs over premium features.
Consider alternatives if: You want premium equipment levels, a refined driving experience, or are concerned about Euro NCAP safety ratings.
Competitive Position: The Fiat Doblo (2010-2020) is a strong contender for practical buyers seeking exceptional space and value. Whilst rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and Citroën C5 Aircross offer superior equipment and refinement, the Doblo delivers unbeatable interior capacity at a fraction of the cost. It's less expensive than the Nissan X-Trail and provides more versatility than traditional SUVs. The Doblo remains an excellent choice for budget-conscious families and those prioritising practicality over prestige, offering outstanding value for money in the used market.
