Fiat Doblo (2010-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of cabin space | Disappointing safety rating from Euro NCAP |
| Sliding rear doors make getting in and out easy | Not very well equipped |
| Affordable used car prices | The ride is bouncy |
Quick Summary
The Fiat Doblo (2010-2020) is a practical, spacious people carrier that prioritises function over form. Based on van architecture, it offers exceptional interior room with five seats as standard, plus an optional third row via the Family Pack. The upright, boxy design maximises headroom and legroom, whilst sliding rear doors and a high driving position enhance accessibility and comfort. A 285-litre boot in five-seater configuration provides generous luggage space, surpassing rivals like the Citroën Berlingo Multispace and Peugeot Partner Tepee.
Engine options include a 94bhp 1.4-litre petrol and two diesel variants: a 103bhp 1.6-litre and 133bhp 2.0-litre Multijet. Diesels offer superior mid-range pulling power and better fuel economy, achieving 40-45mpg in real-world driving. A 2015 facelift improved aesthetics, added sound insulation, and refined the driving experience. Running costs are low, with insurance groups starting from 4E and modest CO2 emissions. Whilst the ride is bouncy and engines can sound rough, the Doblo delivers exceptional value for budget-conscious families seeking maximum practicality.
Best for: Families needing maximum space on a budget, those prioritising practicality over driving dynamics, and buyers seeking affordable people-carrier transport.
Not ideal for: Those wanting premium comfort, refined driving experience, comprehensive equipment, or strong Euro NCAP safety credentials.

The Verdict
You should buy the Doblo if: You're a family needing maximum space on a budget, prioritising practicality over driving dynamics, or seeking affordable people-carrier transport.
Consider alternatives if: You want premium comfort, a refined driving experience, comprehensive equipment, or strong Euro NCAP safety credentials.
Competitive Position: The Fiat Doblo (2010-2020) excels as a budget-friendly, spacious people carrier, offering exceptional value and practicality. Whilst it lacks the premium refinement of the Citroën C5 Aircross or the modern appeal of the Skoda Kodiaq, its affordability and generous interior space make it unbeatable for cost-conscious families. The Nissan X-Trail offers better value deals, but the Doblo's sliding doors and van-based practicality remain unique selling points. For those prioritising space and price over comfort and equipment, the Doblo represents outstanding value in the used market.
