Peugeot 108 Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very easy to drive | Very small boot, even for a city car |
| Lots of different colours and finishes | Some rivals are cheaper to insure |
| Affordable running costs | Early entry-level cars lack air conditioning |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 108 (2014-2020) is a compact city car, closely related to the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo, sharing its underpinnings and largely positive reviews. As Peugeot's entry-level model, it offers affordability, simple mechanics, and low running costs, making it an ideal choice for urban driving and first-time buyers. Available in three or five-door bodystyles, it also uniquely offered a retractable fabric roof in 'TOP!' models, adding a fun convertible option. Its diminutive size, under 3.5 metres long with a 9.6-metre turning circle, makes it exceptionally easy to manoeuvre and park in tight city spaces.
While its small dimensions lead to limited boot space (196 litres) and tight rear legroom for adults, practicality is acceptable for its class. Engine choices include eager 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol units, with the 1.2-litre offering a livelier drive, although all engines can be noisy at higher speeds. Running costs are low, with good fuel economy (around 50-54mpg) and potential for zero road tax on pre-2017 models. The 108 is a reliable, cheap, and cheerful option, especially for budget-conscious drivers prioritising urban convenience over motorway refinement.
Best for: City drivers, first-time car buyers, those seeking a compact and easy-to-park vehicle, and buyers prioritising low running costs.
Not ideal for: Those needing significant boot space or rear passenger room, frequent motorway drivers sensitive to noise, or buyers prioritising the absolute lowest insurance groups.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peugeot 108 | 3/5 | 5/5 | 29.8% | 4.1/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the 108 if: You're a city driver, a first-time car buyer, seeking a compact and easy-to-park vehicle, or prioritising low running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You need significant boot space or rear passenger room, frequently drive long motorway journeys and are sensitive to noise, or prioritise the absolute lowest insurance groups.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 108 (2014-2020) is a strong contender in the used city car market, offering excellent value, ease of driving, and low running costs. While it shares its platform with the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo, and faces competition from rivals like the Kia Picanto, its compact dimensions, choice of bodystyles (including the 'TOP!' convertible), and reliable petrol engines make it a sensible and fun choice for urban environments. Its affordability and overall user-friendliness ensure its appeal, especially for budget-conscious buyers, despite its limitations for longer journeys.

5 Overall rating
(8 reviews)I love this car and the man who sold it to me. Compared to my fiat 500 it feels like a proper car. I have in the past had a Peugeot 205 and 106. I love it has knobs on the radio and am very happy with the rear view camera which I’ve never had before.
Great spec on the car, loads of room in the front. Lovely car for running around town in. Easy to park, rear cameras are a bonus. Great on fuel consumption, no road tax. Very happy with my purchase
Lovely car with all mod cons. Very good value. Good looking car.
this car is top of the range,so you get loads of extras, for the right money,as your buying second hand.citroen C1 do the same withe two of theirs.but i think the peugoet 108 beats this.down to personl choice really
I loved the car and it’s features such as DAB radio and reversing camera. I have purchased it!
