Reviewed a 2019 Seat Tarraco on 26 Feb 2023
Excellent car; love the panoramic roof and the virtual dashboard. The ride is quite hard and the sound from the speakers quite tinny. Having owned a Skoda Kodiaq, before, I had assumed that it would be similar. Instead, it felt a little like the poor relation in terms of interior quality, sound quality, and ride.

Seat Tarraco (2018-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of standard equipment | A little pricey compared with some rivals |
| Good to drive | Third row of seats really for kids only |
| Versatile interior | Badge doesn't quite have the kudos of a VW |
Quick Summary
The Seat Tarraco (2018-present) is a stylishly designed seven-seater large SUV that arrives relatively late to the market but makes a compelling case for itself. With sharp styling lines and triangular graphics that echo Seat's smaller models, the Tarraco stands out in a segment often dominated by utilitarian designs. The cabin is spacious and well-appointed, featuring a practical dashboard, adjustable front seats, and a commanding driving position. The middle row of seats moves forward and back for flexible legroom, whilst the third row provides occasional seating for children. With a 700-litre boot (760 litres in five-seat versions), it offers more space than rivals like the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.
The Tarraco drives better than most large SUVs, feeling more agile than competitors such as the Nissan X-Trail or Sorento. Despite weighing over 1,800kg, it corners with stability and features accurate steering that inspires confidence. Switchable drive modes help adapt to various conditions, whilst the ride quality smooths out disruptions effectively. Technology is comprehensive, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital driver display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Running costs are moderate for the class, though fuel economy is modest at 35-47mpg depending on engine choice. Insurance groups are relatively high (23E-30E), and first-year VED ranges from £215 to £1,305. However, resale values are predicted to be among the best in its class.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, well-equipped seven-seater SUV with engaging driving dynamics, those who value good design and practicality, and families needing versatile interior space.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking the cheapest option in the segment, those prioritising maximum third-row adult space, or buyers wanting the premium badge appeal of a Volkswagen.

The Verdict
You should buy the Tarraco if: You want a stylish, well-equipped seven-seater SUV with engaging driving dynamics, value good design and practicality, or seek a versatile family vehicle with strong resale prospects.
Consider alternatives if: You're seeking the cheapest option in the segment, need maximum third-row adult space, or prioritise premium badge appeal such as Volkswagen.
Competitive Position: The Seat Tarraco is a strong contender in the seven-seater SUV market, offering distinctive styling, comprehensive equipment, and engaging driving dynamics that set it apart from rivals. Whilst the Volkswagen Tiguan edges ahead on overall ratings and the Peugeot 5008 offers slightly better value, the Tarraco's combination of design flair, practicality, and driving enjoyment makes it an excellent choice for buyers who appreciate style alongside substance. It shares underpinnings with the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, but justifies its positioning through superior design and well-considered equipment levels at every trim.
