Love the car. Has everything I wanted. AC/DAB radio/bluetooth/rear parking sensors/comfortable adjustable seating - very important for my back! /defrost settings for windows/ tyre pressure monitoring system and other things I’m sure that I haven’t noticed yet! Excellent value for money!

Excellent car, moves well, feel very secure. The only thing, especially when the car is new and it is at night time if their was some light where the media and the buttons below are - for me that is the only thing missing.

I love the 2019 Suzki Ingis. Its a fantastic small SUV. Everything you need for a city or country driving. Highly recommend serving at a Suzki garage too. Japan certainly know how to build a superb car.

Suzuki Ignis (2016-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Easy to drive around town | Plasticky cabin |
| Lively 1.2-litre engine | Very small boot |
| Cute and unusual looks | Noisy on a long drive |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki Ignis (2016-present) is a characterful and compact SUV that excels in urban environments. Shorter than a MINI and almost as narrow as a Volkswagen Up, it's ideally suited to Britain's congested towns and cities. Despite its diminutive dimensions, the tall design provides comfortable seating for four adults. The peppy 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers lively performance around town, whilst the short wheelbase and compact proportions make parking effortless. Rear seats slide individually to increase boot space when needed, offering versatility that belies the car's modest 260-litre capacity.
Running costs are impressive, with fuel economy typically reaching 50mpg on the standard two-wheel-drive model, better than most budget SUV rivals. The timing chain engine eliminates costly belt replacements, keeping long-term maintenance affordable. Whilst the interior feels somewhat plasticky and the infotainment system is fiddly, the Ignis compensates with immense character, fun-to-drive dynamics, and low taxation costs. It's a car that prioritises personality and practicality over premium materials, making it an excellent choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking a distinctive urban runabout.
Best for: Town drivers seeking a fun, characterful, and affordable compact SUV, those prioritising easy manoeuvrability and parking, and buyers wanting excellent fuel economy and low running costs.
Not ideal for: Those requiring a spacious boot, expecting premium cabin quality, or planning frequent long motorway journeys where road noise becomes apparent.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Ignis | 3/5 | 4.6/5 | 33.5% | 4.1/5 |
| Dacia Duster | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 36.3% | 4.3/5 |
| Fiat Panda | 3/5 | 4.3/5 | 38.1% | 4.0/5 |
| MG ZS | 3/5 | 4.6/5 | 36.2% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Ignis if: You're seeking a fun, characterful, and affordable compact SUV for town driving, prioritising easy manoeuvrability and parking, or wanting excellent fuel economy and low running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You require a spacious boot, expect premium cabin quality, or plan frequent long motorway journeys where road noise becomes apparent.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki Ignis (2016-present) is a distinctive contender in the budget compact SUV market, offering exceptional character and town-friendly dimensions. Whilst the Dacia Duster edges ahead with a higher expert rating and more generous boot space, the Ignis compensates with superior manoeuvrability and a more engaging driving experience. Against the Fiat Panda and MG ZS, the Ignis holds its own with comparable user ratings and value scores. Its real strength lies in delivering personality and practicality at an affordable price, making it ideal for urban drivers who value fun and efficiency over premium refinement.
