Reviewed a 2010 Volkswagen Fox on Feb 28, 2022

Very cost effective, despite higher VED. Its a simple car, with none of the drawbacks of the functionality of modern cars, so less to go wrong. Low mileage examples for under £3000. The only costly part is the electric/hydraulic power steering pump. The 1.2 litre three cylinder car has a timing chain, not a timing belt - so less frequent service costs.
