Overview
The Ford Focus RS is the most performance-orientated version of Ford's popular hatchback, sitting above the ST in the range, but not all generations of the Focus have been blessed with an RS variant. The first RS came along in 2002, and was a variation of the Mk1 Focus. It drove the front wheels through a limited-slip differential with a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine developing 215 horsepower. It was only sold for a short time, and only a couple of thousand were made, so it's a rare beast. The Mk2 Focus RS was sold between 2009 and 2011. It used a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 305 horsepower. The most recent version of the Focus RS was based on the Mk3 Focus and sold between 2016 and 2018. It used a 345 horsepower 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a clever four-wheel drive system complete with drift mode.
