The 2016 Range Rover Sport is a little more sporty, a little more affordable and a little more compact than the full-fat Range Rover. As a refined, spacious and great-looking large SUV, and an alternative to the likes of an Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE or BMW X5 it makes a very compelling argument for itself. Especially when you consider the extra off-road ability that the Range Rover Sport is endowed with compared with its rivals. The only fly in the ointment is a reputation for poor reliability and high running costs.

Is the 2016 Range Rover Sport better than the 2016 BMW X5?

The 2016 BMW X5 is a natural rival for the Range Rover Sport. Its chief advantage is that it’s a more sporty, agile-feeling car than the Range Rover, but there’s no denying that its brash looks are less well resolved than the more elegant Range Rover Sport’s. The Range Rover is also far more accomplished off-road and more comfortable on it.
