Overview

The 2022 Volkswagen Polo GTI is the high-performance hot hatch version of the German company's supermini hatchback, which is now in its sixth generation. It's powered by a detuned version of the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in the bigger Golf GTI, but with 204bhp, it's still fast. It's only available with a twin-clutch automatic gearbox, and although it's a fine all-rounder, it's a little less exciting to drive than rivals such as the Ford Fiesta ST and Hyundai i20 N.
