At a time when stylish, high-end city cars like the MINI and the Fiat 500 were selling like hot cakes, the Vauxhall Adam was the British firm’s attempt to get a slice of the action. Based on a shortened version of the Corsa platform, this three-door, four-seat hatchback was offered with a vast variety of colour combinations for the body, roof and interior, with plenty of other options besides, so the whole focus was very much on customisation, just like with its super-successful rivals. It wasn’t brilliant to drive, and it wasn’t very practical, either, with cramped rear seats and a small boot. It was discontinued in 2019 after six years on sale.
