Audi A4 (2016-2024) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Quiet and comfortable on long journeys | Not as engaging to drive as the BMW 3 Series or Jaguar XE |
| Wide range of efficient petrol and diesel engines | The Avant is not as practical as larger estate cars for similar money |
| Well equipped, even in the base model | Ride comfort suffers with sport suspension |
Quick Summary
The Audi A4 (2016-2024) is a classy and competent executive saloon and estate car that represents the fifth and final generation of this popular model. It combines smart styling with a beautifully appointed interior, spacious seating, and a comprehensive range of impressively efficient engines. Whilst it may not offer the driving engagement of a BMW 3 Series or the aspirational appeal of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the A4 excels in delivering quality, refinement, and practicality. Boot space is generous for its class, with rear seats that split and fold into three sections for added flexibility.
The A4 is particularly impressive on motorways and for long-distance driving, thanks to its smooth engines and excellent insulation from road and wind noise. Handling is assured and planted, with good body control and strong grip, whilst quattro all-wheel drive is available on some models for enhanced all-weather capability. Running costs are competitive, with diesel models achieving 50-55mpg and petrol versions around 40-45mpg in real-world conditions. The A4 Avant estate variant offers additional practicality for those needing extra space, though it doesn't match larger estates in terms of cargo capacity.
Best for: Executive car buyers seeking a refined, well-equipped saloon or estate with excellent long-distance comfort, efficient engines, and impeccable build quality at a competitive price point.
Not ideal for: Drivers prioritising engaging handling dynamics, those seeking maximum boot space in an estate format, or buyers wanting the sportiest driving experience in the executive class.

The Verdict
You should buy the A4 if: You're seeking a refined, well-equipped executive saloon or estate with excellent long-distance comfort, efficient engines, and impeccable build quality at a competitive price.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise engaging handling dynamics, require maximum boot space in an estate format, or want the sportiest driving experience in the executive class.
Competitive Position: The Audi A4 (2016-2024) is a strong contender in the executive car market, offering exceptional refinement, quality, and efficiency. Whilst the BMW 3 Series edges ahead for driving engagement and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers greater aspirational appeal, the A4 delivers superior value and practicality. Its comprehensive engine range, well-appointed interior, and assured handling make it an excellent choice for buyers prioritising comfort and long-distance capability. The A4 Avant estate variant provides a practical alternative to saloon ownership, though larger estates offer more cargo space. Overall, the A4 represents a smart, competent choice for discerning executive car buyers.

Smooth running Quick pickup Bang and Oulfson Stereo amazing Very technical plenty of knobs to push Sails along motorways
I have always loved Audi cars and I think you got a good collection of cars to make a good choice from. Sometimes there are misrepresentations on some cars. you find that the car is manual whereas the details given do not much the pictures of the car. Just something to be mindful of other than that you are excellent
